The PPA presented the results of the implementation of a project for the development of green public procurement in Bulgaria

On June 19, 2019, the final information event of the project “Methodological Support for the Development of Green Public Procurement in Bulgaria”, implemented by the Public Procurement Agency (PPA), funded by the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program, was held in Sofia.

The results of the project implementation were presented during the event. Key among these are: the study and forecasting of the potential of the national green procurement market, which resulted in the development of a Practical Tool for Green Public Procurement; Catalog of good Swiss practices in the field of sustainable public procurement has been issued; Eight trainings on Green Public Procurement were conducted. Good practices from Switzerland ‘with the participation of Swiss experts; a distance training course was organized jointly with the Institute of Public Administration.

The main objective of the PPA project is to promote green public procurement in the country and to explain how they can be used as a useful tool for implementing a coherent and focused policy in the area of sustainable procurement. Another important aspect is to raise the awareness of both contracting authorities and business entities of good practices for the implementation of innovative, energy-efficient solutions and technologies with the lowest environmental impact.

An important contribution from the implementation of the project is the established basis for the development of green and sustainable public procurement over the next 7-year period.

The project “Methodological Support for the Development of Green Public Procurement in Bulgaria” is implemented by the Public Procurement Agency and is financed under Priority Axis 3 “Private Sector” of the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program.
